BeyondTrust Remote Support and PRA 24.3 lose support in November, and there's no one-step upgrade
BeyondTrust ends support for Remote Support 24.3 and Privileged Remote Access 24.3 on 30 November 2026. The release notes show no direct path to 26.x, RADIUS sign-in goes in 27.1, and automatic upgrades skip anything older than 25.3.1. Here's the path and what to test.

after reading, you can- Spot whether your Remote Support or PRA appliance is on 24.x and which hops it needs

BeyondTrust stops supporting Remote SupportdefinitionBeyondTrust's tool for help desks to see and control a user's device. It used to be called Bomgar. 24.3 and Privileged Remote AccessdefinitionBeyondTrust's tool for admins and vendors to reach servers and network gear, often with credentials it injects so nobody sees them. 24.3 at the end of November 2026. If you run either on your own appliance, start the upgrade this month, and plan for more than one hop: the published notes don't give 24.3 a direct path to 26.x.
The tool your helpdesk and vendors use to get into your machines stops getting fixes
Remote Support (RS) is what a helpdesk uses to see and control a user's screen. Privileged Remote Access (PRA) is the sister product for admins and outside vendors who connect to servers, network gear and databases, often with passwords the tool injects so nobody sees them. Self-hosted, both run on a BeyondTrust B Series appliance, physical or virtual, that reps, vendors and customers connect to. Version 24.3 came out in November 2024 and BeyondTrust supports each version for two years, so 24.3 runs out on 30 November 2026. The appliance keeps working on 1 December. It just stops getting fixes, and Remote Support appliances were already exploited this year.
Think of the side door your contractors use, with a guard who checks badges and walks them to the right room. The company that makes the door lock is ending service on your model. The door still opens, but the next time someone finds a way to pick that lock, there's no fix for it.

- Teams with vendors coming in through PRA 24.x
- Anyone signing in to RS or PRA through RADIUS

Why it matters to you
Attackers like these appliances for a simple reason: get control of one and you can reach everything it reaches. From late August a group used an exploited Remote Support flaw (CVE-2026-102764) before any patch existed, and CISA added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities list after disclosure in October. The BT26-05-RS patch went out for 24.3.1 through 26.2.3. Whatever turns up next year won't get a 24.3 patch.
Nothing goes down on 1 December. The real worry is the next advisory. If you're still on 24.3 when it comes out, the fix sits several upgrades away, and you'd be running those hops in a hurry with the appliance exposed.
There's a second reason to move now. BeyondTrust's new automatic upgrades, which start with 26.3.1, only pick up appliances already on 25.3.1 or later. Sites on 25.2 or older get nothing automatically. You have to climb to 25.3.1 by hand before the vendor will carry you any further.
-
01 24.3 runs fine today
Everything works. Reps start sessions and recordings save, so the upgrade keeps sliding down the list.
-
02 Support ends 30 November
24.3 stops getting updates. BeyondTrust's advice is to move to the latest version.
-
03 A new flaw turns up
The fix goes into current 26.x releases. A 24.3 appliance doesn't get one.
-
04 Several hops under pressure
Each hop needs its own package and Base update, and BeyondTrust asks for a day between packages so clients can catch up.
-
05 Planned upgrade instead
Do the hops now in booked change windows. When the next advisory arrives, you just patch.
For engineers: every release note ends with a requirements block naming the BasedefinitionThe appliance's own operating software. Every Remote Support or PRA release needs a minimum Base, so you often update Base first. version it needs and the oldest version it upgrades from. Read them in a row and the path from 24.3 falls out. The table in the next chapter does that for you, and your /appliance update list will grey out any package whose prerequisite you haven't installed yet.
What changed between 24.3 and 26.3.1
Two years of releases sit between 24.3 and 26.3.1. Most of it is new features you can adopt later. The items below are the ones that can stop an upgrade, break a sign-in or change how you run the appliance, so test them before you cut over.
Read these before the first hop off 24.3
25.3.x upgrades from 25.1.1 or later, 26.1.1 from 25.3.1 or later, and 26.2.x only from 25.3.5. A 24.3 site goes through a 25.1 or 25.2 release first.
Since 26.2.1 you can't create a new RADIUS provider. Existing ones still work, with a banner. 26.3.1 says RADIUS is gone from 27.1.
Only system-mode Jump Clients are supported on macOS. If the upgrade finds user-mode ones, a Pre-upgrade 10 warning halts it.
Critical updates that need no downtime now install on their own. Opting out of the ones that need downtime means signing off on the risk.
Base 8.3 changes how events forwarded to your SIEM are structured. Parsers and alert rules built on the old format need a look.
Web server, authentication and HAProxy logs can now go to your SIEM. In 26.2.1 they arrive unstructured.
Fast Track, Standard Track or Enterprise Track, installed only in your maintenance window. Only for sites on 25.3.1 or later.
Cloud and on-premises sites can use FIDO2 authenticators for MFA, and 26.3.1 adds it on Pathfinder too.
Before a rep can see the screen, open files or get a shell in an RDP session, the user in that session has to say yes. You can also make sessions start view-only.
DBAs keep their local Oracle tools, PRA injects the credentials and logs the session. Nobody checks the password out.
If a site behind Entra wants a client certificate, a Windows Gateway can now hand one over. You install it and set up the Entra policy yourself.
Some Jump terms changed names in the product. BeyondTrust says the functions are the same, but runbooks and training screenshots will look out of date.
The upgrade path is the part we'd plan hardest. Each hop is a BeyondTrust package with a Base software prerequisite, and BeyondTrust recommends waiting at least 24 hours after each package so Jump Clients, consoles and Jumpoints can pull the intermediate updates. Three or four hops can't be squeezed into one Saturday. If you can't wait between hops, the documented fallback is to remove every client, install the packages in sequence and reinstall the clients afterwards, which is usually worse.
RADIUSdefinitionAn old network sign-in protocol often used to connect reps to token or MFA servers. BeyondTrust removes it in 27.1. is the change that reaches outside the BeyondTrust team. If your reps sign in through RADIUS, it usually points at an MFA server or a token system that someone else owns. The removal date has already moved once: 26.1.1 said RADIUS would go in 26.2.1, and 26.2.1 hid it from new setups instead. Don't count on a third delay. The 26.3.1 notes point to SAML, LDAP or another supported two-factor option, and the move touches your identity provider, group mappings and every rep's sign-in.
The Base 8.3.0 change matters for change control. Seamless critical patches now install without asking, and the appliance raises an alert when it can't reach the update server. If your firewall blocks that traffic, or your process says nothing changes outside a ticket, sort that out before you land on 26.2 or later.

The dates that shape your upgrade window
- 14 Nov 202424.3.1 released
RS and PRA 24.3.1 come out. Two years of support starts here.
- Apr 202626.1.1 released
This is the hop that halts on Mac user-mode Jump Clients. It also adds FIDO2 as a second factor and puts RADIUS on notice.
- Jul 202624.2 out of support
Sites on 24.2 are already past their date.
- Jul 202626.2.1 and Base 8.3.0
From here you can't create new RADIUS providers, and seamless critical patches install on their own. Your SIEM starts getting syslog in OCSF.
- Oct 2026BT26-05 patch
Attackers had been using CVE-2026-102764, and CISA lists it as exploited. The patch reaches back to 24.3.1, and no further.
- 3 Nov 202626.3.1 released
Optional automatic upgrades become available. The first Fast Track upgrades come around mid-January 2027, and only for sites already on 25.3.1 or later, so 24.3 gets nothing.
- 30 Nov 202624.3 out of support
Last day of support for RS 24.3 and PRA 24.3.
- Mid-Jan 2027Fast Track upgrades
Fast Track sites start moving to 26.3.x in their maintenance window. Standard waits for 27.1, Enterprise for 27.2.
- 27.1RADIUS removed
No firm date yet. BeyondTrust's rollout table puts 27.1 at about the first quarter of 2027.
The upgrade path from 24.3
On premises, upgrades come through /appliance under Updates, and Base packages normally go in right before the BeyondTrust package that needs them. BeyondTrust's own guidance for an appliance that's months or years behind is to install the available package and let it unlock the next one. If you aren't sure of the order, Support will work it out from a screenshot of /appliance > Status > Basics.
If BeyondTrust hosts your site, ask your account team which version it runs and when it moves. The end-of-support table doesn't split cloud from on-premises, and the RADIUS removal applies to both.
Today: 24.3 with older sign-in and logging
A common 24.x estate. Reps sign in through RADIUS, Mac clients run in user mode, and the SIEM parses the old syslog format.
After: 26.3.1 on a supported path
The same appliance on 26.3.1. Reps sign in with SAML and phishing-resistant MFA, clients run in system mode, and appliance logs reach the SIEM.
From inventory to 26.3.1
- 01Write down what you run
Record the RS or PRA build, the Base version, the appliance model or VM, and whether there's a failover peer or Atlas cluster. On Remote Support, check BT26-05-RS shows as installed.
- 02Find what will block or break
List RADIUS providers, Mac user-mode Jump Clients, any opt-outs from critical updates, and the SIEM rules that parse BeyondTrust syslog.
- 03Move reps off RADIUS
Set up SAML or LDAP with MFA next to RADIUS, move groups across in batches and keep one vaulted local admin for break-glass. Do this first, while you're still on a version where both work.
- 04Book the hops
Plan each hop as its own change: the Base update, then the BeyondTrust package, then at least 24 hours for clients. 24.3 to 25.1 or 25.2, then 25.3.5, then 26.2.3 or straight to 26.3.1 if your update list offers it.
- 05Test after every hop
Start an attended session, a Jump Client session, a vault credential injection and a recording playback. Check that syslog still parses.
- 06Pick a channel
Once you're on 26.3.1, choose Fast Track, Standard or Enterprise and set the maintenance window, so the next upgrade isn't a project.
- The next advisory comes without a 24.3 patch
- You still do every hop, only now in an emergency
- Automatic upgrades won't help, because they ignore anything below 25.3.1
- 27.1 drops RADIUS, and reps can't sign in until someone builds SAML in a hurry
- Back on a supported release. When the next advisory comes out, you just patch
- You spread the hops over booked windows and give clients a day to catch up
- Pick a channel once. After that, upgrades stop being a project someone has to remember
- Reps move off RADIUS when it suits you. Nobody gets locked out by 27.1
What you get on 26.3.1
Staying supported is the main reason to move. A few changes are worth switching on while you're there, and none of them is needed on day one.
- Help desks with consent rules: RS 26.3.1 makes the user in an RDP session approve a rep before screen, files or shell open. BeyondTrust pitches it at GDPR and works council requirements.
- DBAs and audit: PRA 26.3.1 proxies Oracle database connections and injects credentials, so contractors use their own tools without ever seeing the password.
- Security operations: RS 26.2.1 can stream the appliance's own web, authentication and HAProxy logs to syslog (on-premises only, unstructured for now), so security teams get appliance-level logs without opening a support ticket.
- Identity teams: since 26.1.1 reps can use FIDO2 keys as a second factor. When the RADIUS tokens go, that's a better thing to hand people.
- Remote access teams: sign-in pages that ask for a username twice used to trip up PRA's credential injection. 26.3.1 handles them, and a Windows Gateway can show a client certificate to Entra-protected sites.
- Platform owners: Jump Client upgrades can roll out by Jump Group in 26.3.1, so you can test a small group of endpoints first.
What to do now
What to do, by who you are
- Ask one question: which RS or PRA version do we run, and is it 24.x?
- If it is, approve the upgrade as planned work for November, with change windows for every hop.
- If an IT provider runs it for you, ask in writing for the version, the BT26-05 status and the upgrade date.
- Check the build and Base version in /appliance. On Remote Support, confirm the BT26-05-RS patch is installed.
- Map your hops from the requirements table and book the windows.
- List RADIUS providers, Mac user-mode Jump Clients and any critical-update opt-outs.
- Stand up SAML with your identity provider for RS and PRA, with phishing-resistant MFA.
- Map RADIUS groups to SAML group policies and move reps in batches.
- Keep one vaulted local break-glass account and test it.
- Get sample OCSF-format syslog from a test appliance and update parsers and alert rules.
- Plan the intake for the new appliance logs once you're on RS 26.2.1 or later.
- Open the firewall so the appliance can reach BeyondTrust's update server. Otherwise critical patches quietly never arrive.
# example output: fields from /appliance > Status > Basics, typed into the change record Product: Remote Support 24.3.x Base software: 7.3.x BT26-05-RS patch: installed Failover peer: yes, same version Security providers: LDAP, RADIUS # RADIUS is listed, so plan the move to SAML before you take 27.1
Make the next one hurt less
Durable fixes that come out of this upgrade
- 01Join an upgrade channel
Once you're on 26.3.1, pick a channel. Standard or Enterprise still lags behind current, but it keeps you on a supported version without a project every two years.
- 02Keep critical patches on
Let seamless critical patches install, and allow downtime ones in the maintenance window. BT26-05 showed how fast an exposed appliance gets hit.
- 03Put reps behind your identity provider
SAML with phishing-resistant MFA means leavers lose access when HR closes their account, and nobody has a separate RADIUS token to forget about.
- 04Lock down /login and /appliance
Restrict both admin interfaces to known networks or a jump host. Reps and customers don't need them.
- 05Send everything to the SIEM
Forward session events and appliance logs, keep them for months and alert on new admin accounts, role changes and gaps in the feed.
- 06Vault the credentials it injects
Use the direct Password Safe integration or another vault for injected credentials, so the appliance holds as few secrets as possible.
If the upgrade goes wrong
Something broke after a hop? Work down this list in order
Usually the appliance is fine and it's sign-in or clients that broke. Keep reps working first, then work through causes one at a time.
- 01Stabilisefirst hour
- Check a rep can sign in and start a session. If RADIUS users can't, sign in with the break-glass local account and switch the affected group to the new provider.
- If sessions fail across the board, use the failover peer or restore the pre-hop backup. Don't start the next hop.
- 02Find what didn't catch upfirst day
- Look for Jump Clients, consoles and Jumpoints still on the old version. Give them the full 24 hours before you assume they're stuck.
- Check Mac endpoints. User-mode clients that slipped through need redeploying in system mode.
- 03Check logging and patchesfirst day
- Confirm syslog still reaches the SIEM and the parser reads it. A silent gap looks the same as log tampering later.
- Check /appliance for patch alerts or an update server warning. If the appliance can't reach BeyondTrust, critical patches won't install either.
- 04Record and continuefirst week
- Write down what broke at each hop and how long the fix took. The next hop goes faster.
- Re-run the test list, then book the next hop.
What it looks like in real estates
Three BeyondTrust setups you'll probably recognise, and what we'd do
- the setup
- A regional insurer has Remote Support 24.3.1 on one physical appliance. Reps sign in with RADIUS against a token server, and someone put BT26-05 on in October.
- what happens
- The patch closed the hole, but support ends this month and the path to 26.x takes three or four hops. RADIUS has to go before 27.1, too.
- what to do
- Move reps to SAML first, then book a window for each hop, a day or more apart and finish before 30 November.
- the setup
- A manufacturer runs Privileged Remote Access 24.3 with a failover peer. Outside vendors reach plant servers through it, and DBAs still check out Oracle passwords from a vault.
- what happens
- Every hop has to go onto both appliances. And the 26.2 hop changes the syslog format their SOC relies on.
- what to do
- Rehearse each hop on the peer first, update the SIEM parsers before 26.2, then look at Oracle proxying once they're on 26.3.1.
- the setup
- An IT provider supports client sites from one RS 24.3 appliance, with Jump Clients on a lot of customer Macs installed years ago in user mode.
- what happens
- The hop to 26.1.1 stops with a Pre-upgrade 10 warning. Nothing moves until every user-mode Mac client is dealt with, and some of those Macs belong to customers who rarely answer email.
- what to do
- Pull the Mac client list now, redeploy in system mode with a .mobileconfig profile, then run the hops.
How Cohash helps
We implement, upgrade and run privileged access platforms, and the BeyondTrust page lists what we cover. For this deadline we'd start with the version, Base and sign-in inventory, move reps off RADIUS, then run each hop with your team in booked windows. If you need engineers for the work, see BeyondTrust engineers for hire, or start with a free assessment.
What to take from this
- 01
Remote Support 24.3 and Privileged Remote Access 24.3 lose support on 30 November 2026. 24.2 already ran out in July.
- 02
There's no direct path from 24.3 to 26.x. Go through 25.1 or 25.2, then 25.3.5, then on to 26.x as your /appliance update list allows.
- 03
Allow at least 24 hours after each BeyondTrust package so clients catch up.
- 04
Move RADIUS sign-ins to SAML, LDAP or another supported option before 27.1 removes them.
- 05
Clear Mac user-mode Jump Clients before 26.1.1, and update SIEM parsers before Base 8.3.0.
01Our help desk runs Remote Support 24.3. When does support end?
30 November 2026. BeyondTrust's table says November 2026, and support runs to the last day of the month listed. Privileged Remote Access 24.3 ends on the same date, and 24.2 already ran out in July.
02Can we upgrade Remote Support 24.3 straight to 26.3.1?
Not on the published notes. 26.2.x only upgrades from 25.3.5, and 25.3.x needs 25.1.1 or later, so 24.3 goes through 25.1 or 25.2 first. The 26.3.1 notes don't print their own floor, so check which packages your /appliance update list offers.
03How long does the upgrade take?
Plan days, not hours. BeyondTrust recommends waiting at least 24 hours after each BeyondTrust package so clients can pull intermediate updates. With three or four hops, that's most of a week of change windows.
04Will automatic upgrades move us off 24.3?
No. Automatic upgrades start with 26.3.1 and only cover sites on 25.3.1 or later with a channel selected. Anything on 25.2 or older has to be upgraded by hand first.
05We use RADIUS for rep sign-in. Do we have to change it now?
Not to reach 26.3.1. Existing RADIUS providers keep working there, but you can't create new ones, and 27.1 removes RADIUS completely. Move reps to SAML, LDAP or another supported two-factor option before you take 27.1.
06We applied the BT26-05 patch. Are we covered after November?
For that flaw, yes. For the next one, no. The BT26-05-RS patch covered 24.3.1 to 26.2.3, but once 24.3 is out of support, a future fix won't come for it.
07Our IT provider runs BeyondTrust for us. What should we ask?
Ask in writing which version and Base your appliance runs, whether BT26-05 is installed, and the dates for each upgrade hop. Ask how they'll handle RADIUS sign-in too.
Three questions, about a minute
Pick an answer and we'll tell you if it's right, and why it is or isn't. The score stays in this browser.
-
Q1You're on Remote Support 24.3.1 and someone wants to install 26.2.3 directly next weekend. What will happen?
show the answer
B. The package won't be offered, because 26.2.3 only upgrades from 25.3.5 26.2.x lists 25.3.5 as its oldest upgrade source, so a 24.3 site has to climb through 25.1 or 25.2 and 25.3.5 first. The /appliance update list greys out packages whose prerequisite is missing.
-
Q2You turn on automatic upgrades in the hope BeyondTrust will move your 24.3 appliance for you. Why won't that work?
show the answer
C. They only pick up sites on 25.3.1 or later, so you have to get there by hand Automatic upgrades hang off a setting that first appeared in 25.3.1. Anything older, 24.3 included, gets no automatic upgrade until you get it there yourself.
-
Q3Reps log in with RADIUS tokens today. You're upgrading to 26.3.1 this month. What else belongs in the plan?
show the answer
A. Move reps to SAML, LDAP or another supported option before 27.1. Otherwise they can't sign in after it New RADIUS providers can't be created since 26.2.1, existing ones still work for now, and 26.3.1 says RADIUS is removed in 27.1. Moving reps to SAML with MFA before then avoids a lockout.
