Keeping NetSuite workable after the number of entities doubles.

NetSuite usually goes in quickly and cheaply. Then it accumulates dozens of scripts, saved searches and workflows, written by whoever was closest. Each of the two version upgrades a year tests all of it. We clean it up and build what's missing. Then we keep it working through every release.

Cohash implements and extends Oracle NetSuite.

We configure OneWorld subsidiaries, revenue recognition and approvals. We write SuiteScript 2.x and SuiteFlow, package customizations with SuiteCloud Development Framework, and integrate through REST web services and middleware. NetSuite ships two scheduled version upgrades a year (2026.2 is current) plus monthly releases. Before each upgrade reaches production, we test scripts and integrations in the release preview.

  • Two scripts and a workflow all write to the same field and nobody knows which one wins.
  • The last version upgrade broke an integration and you found out from customers.
  • There's no sandbox deployment process, so people edit scripts directly in production.

what we do

Our Oracle NetSuite work

6 kinds of Oracle NetSuite work, each run by engineers who have done it on live tenants.

  1. Subsidiaries, chart of accounts, items, revenue recognition, approvals and roles set up from your process, or rebuilt when the first implementation no longer fits.

  2. SuiteScript 2.x user event, scheduled, map/reduce and RESTlet scripts, kept in source control and deployed as SDF projects instead of edited in the browser.

  3. Each scheduled version upgrade is tested in the release preview account against your scripts, workflows, integrations and saved searches before the production upgrade date.

  4. REST web services, RESTlets and middleware flows to CRM, ecommerce, banks, payroll and the data warehouse, with token-based authentication and error queues.

  5. An inventory of scripts, workflows and saved searches with owner, trigger and governance usage, then consolidation of the ones that conflict or run slowly.

  6. NetSuite administrators, developers and functional consultants on contract, contract-to-hire or permanent terms.

typical situations

Oracle NetSuite situations we walk into

We pieced these together from Oracle NetSuite situations that come up a lot. They're patterns. You won't find a specific client in them.

Forty scripts editing sales orders and a 2026.2 preview that fails

composite · not a client story
  1. Beforethe situation

About forty user event and scheduled scripts touch sales orders, several written against SuiteScript 1.0. The 2026.2 release preview shows two integrations failing, and nobody knows which script is responsible.

  2. What we dothe work

We trace every script and workflow deployed on the sales order record, find the ones writing the same fields and fix the failures in the preview account first. Then we consolidate the conflicting scripts into SuiteScript 2.x and move them into an SDF project.

  3. Afterwhere you end up

We land the upgrade without the integration failures. Sales order logic lives in a few documented scripts in source control.

case file 02

Adding three subsidiaries after an acquisition

composite · not a client story
  1. Beforethe situation

A NetSuite OneWorld account with one subsidiary needs three more after an acquisition, each with its own currency and tax setup. The original implementation hard-coded the subsidiary in several scripts and saved searches.

  2. What we dothe work

We hunt down every hard-coded subsidiary reference and rework those scripts and searches. The new subsidiaries, intercompany rules and elimination accounts go into a sandbox first, and a trial consolidation runs before go-live.

  3. Afterwhere you end up

The new entities close along with the rest of the group. For the next acquisition there's a written setup guide to follow.

approach

How a Oracle NetSuite engagement runs

We don't start a step until the last one has produced something you can check.

  1. step 01

    Account review

We inventory scripts, workflows, saved searches, custom records and integrations. For each we note the owner, the trigger, governance usage and when it last changed.

  2. step 02

    Fix and structure

We consolidate conflicting automation and move customizations into SDF projects in source control. Integrations get token-based auth, retries and error queues.

  3. step 03

    Release preview testing

We run a test pack in the release preview account ahead of every scheduled upgrade. Scripts, workflows, integrations and the saved searches people rely on are all in it.

  4. step 04

    Hand over

Your administrators get the deployment process, the test pack and the customization inventory written down, plus a calendar of the upgrade dates coming up.

architecture

Where NetSuite sits in a growing company

Orders come in from CRM and ecommerce, and NetSuite runs order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and the close across subsidiaries. Middleware or REST web services take data out to payroll, banks and the warehouse. SuiteCloud projects carry customizations from sandbox to production.

01How often does NetSuite upgrade, and can we delay it?

NetSuite ships two scheduled version upgrades a year, with monthly releases in between, and you can't opt out of the version upgrade. First you get a release preview account. We test scripts, workflows and integrations there before your production date.

02Why move customizations into SuiteCloud Development Framework?

SDF projects put scripts, custom records and workflows in source control and deploy them the same way every time. So sandbox-to-production moves are repeatable and you can see what changed. Customizations edited in the browser are hard to review and easy to overwrite.

03Should we integrate through REST web services, RESTlets or middleware?

It depends on how many systems are involved, the volume and who'll look after it. REST web services suit standard records and RESTlets suit custom logic. Middleware such as MuleSoft earns its keep when NetSuite is one of many systems and you want monitoring and retries in one place.

04When does NetSuite stop fitting?

Rarely on size alone. It starts to strain with complex manufacturing, very high transaction volumes or deep industry requirements. Often the real problem is the implementation, which a cleanup or re-implementation fixes for less than a platform change.

05We use SuiteCloud CLI for Java. Do we need to act?

Yes. According to Oracle, SuiteCloud CLI for Java is at end of support. 2025.2 was the last version and stays downloadable until 2027.1. We'd move deployment scripts to the Node.js CLI or the VS Code extension.

06Do you provide NetSuite admins and developers on contract?

We do. Contract, contract-to-hire or permanent, and onsite in the US or nearshore and offshore in whatever time zone you need.
