Annuity records, substation logins and container gate systems all answer to someone in Newark.
Newark is where a national insurer files its 10-K, where New Jersey's biggest gas and electric utility keeps its head office, and where Port Newark and Newark Liberty move freight and travelers. Each of those runs on old systems that a growing crowd of vendors and service accounts can reach.

For Newark organizations we work on identity governance, privileged access, machine credentials and data pipelines.
Insurers want cleaner access to policy and annuity platforms. Utilities need remote access and personnel controls that hold up under NERC CIP audits. Port, airport and logistics firms need partner and contractor access sorted out. Cohash is headquartered in Frisco, Texas; we serve Newark remotely and fly in for workshops and launches.
Our only US office is in Frisco, Texas, and we have no Newark office. Newark teams work with us remotely, and we travel to your site for discovery sessions, design workshops and go-live.

What's specific about Newark
Each figure comes from a public source, linked on the card.
The BLS counts about 1,051,000 nonfarm jobs in the Newark-Union metro division for September 2026 (preliminary). Trade, transportation and utilities accounts for 199,300 of them, with education and health services close behind at 184,800, up 2.9% on the year.

source ↗ 03Prudential Financial's SEC filings list its business address as 751 Broad Street, Newark.
source ↗ 04 47 millionNewark Liberty served 47 million passengers in 2025, its third-busiest year, according to the Port Authority's year-end figures as reported by Aviation Pros. The same report puts the Port of New York and New Jersey second in the country for loaded containers, at nearly 6 million loaded TEUs.

-
Life insurance, annuities and retirement
A carrier with decades of in-force policies usually runs several admin platforms at once, plus a data warehouse fed by nightly batch jobs. Access piles up as people move between product lines. We build role models around those platforms, run certification campaigns that business owners can actually finish, and put the batch service accounts under rotation with named owners.
-
Electric and gas utilities
Substation engineers, outage contractors and control-center staff all need access, and NERC CIP wants proof that it was authorized, reviewed and removed on time. We map every interactive remote path into high and medium impact systems, route it through a PAM gateway with MFA and recording, and tie revocation to the HR and contractor feeds.
-
Port, airport and freight logistics
Terminal operators, customs brokers, truckers and airline ground handlers all touch shared systems around Port Newark and Newark Liberty. Most of them are partners, not employees. We give partners their own identity tier with federation where they support it, short-lived credentials where they do not, and API access scoped to the shipments or flights they handle.
-
Academic medicine and public hospitals
A public teaching hospital mixes state employees, medical school faculty, residents and agency staff in one EHR. Each group starts and ends through a different office. We wire those sources into one lifecycle so access follows the rotation calendar, and we build the reporting that shows who opened which record.

New Jersey breach notification, N.J.S.A. 56:8-163 ↗
Notice to affected residents in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay. The breach must be reported to the Division of State Police before customers are told. If more than 1,000 people are notified at once, the nationwide consumer reporting agencies must be told as well.
-
New Jersey Data Privacy Act (P.L.2023, c.266) ↗
In force since 15 January 2025 for controllers handling data of 100,000 or more New Jersey consumers, or 25,000 or more where they earn revenue or discounts from selling personal data. Heightened-risk processing needs a documented data protection assessment. The Division of Consumer Affairs enforces it.
-
NERC CIP reliability standards ↗
Bind registered owners and operators of the bulk electric system, which in Newark means the utility and its generation side. The identity-heavy standards cover personnel access and revocation, electronic security perimeters with controlled interactive remote access, and system security management.
Most requested in Newark
The services clients in Newark ask us for most.
01Does New Jersey give us a fixed number of days to notify residents after a breach?
The statute does not set a day count. It asks for notice in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, and it requires a report to the State Police before customers hear about it. Bills to add a hard deadline have been introduced, so have counsel check the current text when you build your playbook.
02Are we covered by the New Jersey Data Privacy Act if we only have customers in the region?
Coverage turns on volume, not revenue. If you process personal data of 100,000 New Jersey consumers in a year, or 25,000 while selling personal data, you are in scope. Insurers and banks should have counsel confirm how the act's exemptions for financial institutions apply to their specific entities and data before assuming they are out.
03Our CIP auditors keep flagging contractor access that outlived the contract. How do you fix that?
We connect the contractor management system, not only HR, to the identity platform, so an end date on a purchase order or badge record drives revocation. Then we report on any access that survives past that date. That gives you evidence for the personnel and access standards instead of a spreadsheet reconciliation each quarter.
04Can you modernize access on an old policy admin system without replacing it?
Usually. Many legacy admin platforms can sit behind an access gateway or accept provisioning through their own APIs or database tables. We put single sign-on in front, automate joiner and leaver changes, and leave the replacement decision to your platform roadmap.
05Do you travel to Newark for the work?
Yes, for the parts that benefit from a room. That's discovery interviews, design workshops and cutover weekends. The day-to-day engineering runs remotely from Frisco and our other offices.
