Electronic warfare in Nashua, tissue biofabrication on Commercial Street, 200,000 online students.

About one in eight nonfarm jobs in the Manchester-Nashua metro is in manufacturing, and Nashua hosts the US headquarters of BAE Systems' electronics sector. A few miles up the Merrimack, one online university signs in over 200,000 students. Defense data and student accounts both need identity that holds up under audit.

in short·20-second read

Around Manchester and Nashua we work with defense electronics manufacturers and their suppliers, life sciences and biofabrication teams, and universities with large online enrollments.

The work spans CMMC access controls and controlled data enclaves, research data governance, and student identity at scale. New Hampshire's privacy law adds consumer rights handling for many of them. Cohash serves the region remotely from Frisco, Texas and travels in for workshops and launches.

We have no New Hampshire office. Cohash runs Manchester and Nashua work remotely from Frisco, Texas, and our consultants travel to New Hampshire for workshops, assessment readiness reviews and launches.

who and what

Who we work with in Manchester, New Hampshire, and the rules they work under

industries
  1. Defense electronics and suppliers

Electronic warfare and sensor programs generate export-controlled technical data, and engineers often hold access across several programs at once. Suppliers in the area receive drawings and test data from primes. We scope access by program and citizenship requirement, move controlled data into a monitored enclave and keep the access-control evidence CMMC and export compliance teams need.

  2. Biofabrication and life sciences

Tissue engineering work runs on shared lab equipment, bioreactors and cloud data platforms used by member companies, universities and federal partners. Member data has to stay separated even when the lab space is shared. We design tenant-aware access, federate partner identities and govern research data so each member sees only its own results.

  3. Higher education at online scale

An online university with hundreds of thousands of learners runs admissions, financial aid, learning platforms and support desks, each tied to a student account. Account takeover and financial aid fraud follow. We build student identity with strong self-service recovery, risk checks at enrollment and step-up for aid and payment changes.

regulations
  1. New Hampshire breach notice, RSA 359-C:20 ↗

After a breach the business determines whether misuse is likely and, if so or if unclear, notifies affected people as soon as possible. It also tells the Attorney General or its primary regulator, and notifies nationwide consumer reporting agencies when more than 1,000 consumers are notified.

  2. New Hampshire privacy law, RSA 507-H ↗

Effective 1 January 2025 for businesses processing personal data of at least 35,000 unique consumers a year, or 10,000 while earning over 25% of gross revenue from data sales. The Attorney General enforces alone, and since 1 January 2026 offering a 60-day cure is at the AG's discretion.

  3. DFARS CMMC rule (DFARS Case 2019-D041) ↗

Took effect 10 November 2025 and lets the Defense Department make a CMMC status a condition of contract award, with flow-down to subcontractors handling FCI or CUI. Phase 1 self-assessments apply now, and Phase 2 certification was suspended on 13 July 2026 pending a review.

01Does New Hampshire's privacy law cover a university or nonprofit?

No. RSA 507-H:3 exempts nonprofit organizations and institutions of higher education outright, along with HIPAA covered entities and GLBA financial institutions. For-profit edtech, analytics and marketing vendors that work for the university are a separate question, and the thresholds can easily catch them.

02How fast do we have to notify people after a breach in New Hampshire?

The statute says as soon as possible once you determine misuse has happened or is reasonably likely, or can't rule it out. There is no fixed day count, so the practical limit is how quickly you can tell whose data was touched. Good access logs shorten that a lot.

03We build boards for a defense prime in Nashua. Where should we start on CMMC?

Find where controlled data lands. Primes send drawings and specs by portal, email and file share, and each path becomes part of your assessment scope. Narrowing those paths into one enclave with multifactor sign-in usually saves more effort than any tool purchase.

04Can shared lab equipment use individual sign-in?

Often yes, through badge readers or a sign-in station tied to the instrument's software. Where the instrument only supports a shared local account, we record who checked it out and vault the password so it changes after each session.
